Has your power gone “off” but your lights
remain “on” (or visa versa)? It may be that your safety switch has
tripped “off”. Firstly, locate your switchboard and find the tripped switch. It
is most likely a little larger than the rest of the trip switches
(called circuit breakers) and will be either labelled “safety switch”,
RCD (residual current device) or possibly ELCB (earth leakage circuit
breaker). Once you’ve located your safety switch and ascertained that
it has tripped “off”, follow these simple instructions to reset the
device.

TESTING YOUR RCD "Safety Switch".It is recommended that your RCD be tested regularly (six monthly) by pressing the "TEST" button. The RCD should trip "OFF" immediately.
