Old rewireable and cartridge type fuses have many drawbacks. Most significantly is the safety issues arising from the age & ease of access to "live" electrical components. We commonly find rewireable fuses with the wrong size, wrong type or multistranded fusewire. This practice is extremely dangerous and can easily result in an "Electrical FIRE".

Old VIR wiring systems - arguably the main cause of electrical fire in the country. It is strongly recommended that these old cabling systems be regularly inspected by a competent electrician. Our advise is to have older types of cabling replaced/rewired with more modern and certainly "safer" cabling as a matter of PRIORITY. Your action on this advise could save lives and property damage through a fire that "didn't need to happen".
